I noticed mysterious loss in battery life after installing. I didn’t initially realize what was causing it until I opened up my activity monitor for an unrelated task and that’s when I saw that this app keeps the “Requires high performance GPU” flag set to “yes” meaning the dedicated ATI chip is always running and the system can’t disable it to save power and use iris graphics. The top bar when I click the battery icon also reports it being a significant energy use app.
We’re talking about a BIG drop in battery life too. About 1% battery loss every 2 minutes just browsing chrome. Turning the app off more than doubles the battery life.
I’d say if you’re on a desktop mac or keep your laptop plugged in, it’s a good app. Lots of great features but until there is a way to have this thing only use iris graphics and not keep the ATI chip running, I’m removing this from my MBP and just using the built in screen grab function.
