Lightshot Screenshot App Reviews

alternative to Skitch

I found this looking for an alternative to Skitch. This has *exactly* the features I’m looking for. No more, no less. Impressed.

Good, but usability lacking

Good app, for sure. Does what it promises to do. However, it could be much more intuitive. a. For starters, instead of darkening the screen to make a screenshot, you could just activate the area selector right away as soon as the shortcut has been pressed. I understand that many need to annotate, but it would be great have a quick and easy ‘screenshot, automatically upload, automatically copy to clipboard’ feature, such as the one in Droplr (when it was still free!). b. I hate that I have to actually click ‘Copy’ to copy the link to the clipboard. Please make it automatic. Otherwise, aside from link length, Dropbox becomes the easier solution.

Innovative but Missing Critical Features

Lightshot has a nicely designed interface that is functional yet spartan, hence nicely thougth out. The cloud interaction is easy and seemless, as well as attractive and intuitive. In about 20 seconds you can be both familiar and comfortable with this tool. Where this tool falls short is the inablity to capture a region or a “window” with a single click. This is critical for many users as it aids in producing final images for documentation as well as for presentations and proposals. It is somewhat tedious having to select the exact rectangle (or circle?) for a window’s region. The second feature that is missing is the ablility to obscure information in the screen shot. A common function that becomes necessary for privacy when sharing a screen shot in any of the aforementioned modes of use. Overall, nice app and if you don’t need either window capture or obfuscation tools, this tool is clean and seems to come with cloud service all gratis.

Simple and Easy

Works exactly like it’s supposed to, you can even set your own key combinations for it. I got it mainly for the fact because on Mac OS Sierra, screenshots look too dark, not light like EL Capitan. This small lightweight program solves that and I like that I have options to where I want to save my screenshots to.

BUG REPORT

Hey guys, great product but one thing—most often the cursor disappears as soon as trigger the screenshot, I can’t see my mouse. I don’t me in the screenshot of course, I mean I can’t see my mouse during the screenshot process itself. Not everytime, like 60-80% of the time. If I keep re-trying eventually I can see my mouse and selected the screen area of interest.

Loved it and then it stopped working!

I have been using this app for almost a year now. I love it! Then I decided to change my quick key and accidently pressed command+q. The application quitted and won’t restart. I have tried restarting my computer, deleting it and reinstalling it, and even waiting days in between. I had just downloaded the new OS system, macOS Sierra, and think that could be part of the reason it isn’t working. Please fix this! I have looked at other apps and none of them are as simple and easy to use as this. I’m looking forward to the next version, hopefully it is compatable with the new macOS Sierra. Thank you.

Indisposable!

Love this app, works great for it’s ability to quickly mark up the screen shots, save, copy/paste, etc…

Not as good as it used to be

I can not select region and send it to buffer anynmore!!! That was main feature you bought i for, if devs contact me and help fix this problem - I will rate is with 5 stargs :) Thank you

Destroys battery life on my macbook pro

I noticed mysterious loss in battery life after installing. I didn’t initially realize what was causing it until I opened up my activity monitor for an unrelated task and that’s when I saw that this app keeps the “Requires high performance GPU” flag set to “yes” meaning the dedicated ATI chip is always running and the system can’t disable it to save power and use iris graphics. The top bar when I click the battery icon also reports it being a significant energy use app. We’re talking about a BIG drop in battery life too. About 1% battery loss every 2 minutes just browsing chrome. Turning the app off more than doubles the battery life. I’d say if you’re on a desktop mac or keep your laptop plugged in, it’s a good app. Lots of great features but until there is a way to have this thing only use iris graphics and not keep the ATI chip running, I’m removing this from my MBP and just using the built in screen grab function.

Simple and useful

Its very simple and useful. It’s just what I’m searching for.

great app

Easy to use, no watermarks, lets u customise file name and path immediately - all u need!

Good

Its better than Grab as you can save files as PNGs. Does not play well with multiple monitors though.

Great app, works perfactly

A must have app

Annoying

It shows the window you launched the app from so you cant take a proper screenshot of other things.

Image darkened

Does not work out for me : As I draw the rectangle to take the screenshot, the image is kind of darkened. Not as dark as the area outside the rectangle but sill it’s not the right colors at all. Not the behavior I see in the pictures in App Store. I did not find a workaround for this.

Doesn’t work

It freezes when I click on the app icon and doesn’t open but couldn’t delete it because my mac tells me it is open. I hope this is not virus.

Performance Issues

I used it in PC, it was amazing, perfect, but in OS X (Mavericks) performance is poor. Toolbar does not appear sometimes. When you move the capture area it is not moving smoothly.

doesnt work woth two monitors

while it seem to be working, i cant rate it with any start because it doesnt work properly with two monitors

Doesnt work with dual screen

1.1 claims to support dual screens, however it doesnt. It just stretches one of the displays onto two monitors which makes it useless for making screenshots on multi-display PC. Please, please, please, fix it, because otherwise its a great tool.

Works slow.

Works slow on OS X 10.10 with standard resolution. Big delay in drawing. And absolutely unusable at 1920x1200 resolution. Very slow and even with system freezing.
